Trevor Howard
Personal background and early ministry
Trevor, who made his Christian commitment at a Charismatic/Evangelical Anglican church whilst attending King’s School, Rochester, (the cathedral school) where he went on to lead the Christian Union, began his working life as a post-graduate teacher of modern languages (French, German and Spanish), gaining rapid promotion to Head of Department by the age of 26. In a failing school, his department was the only one to pass several OfStEd inspections. After gaining his Qualified Teacher Status, he began post-graduate study and moved to part-time languages teaching and managerial assistance in Greenwich, also providing voluntary administrative and managerial input at the Welcome Project for Refugees, Penge, in the late 1990s.
Cornerstone Christian Centre
Trevor has served Cornerstone in almost every role, from steward to TV camera operator, and Area Pastor to Pastoral Care Co-ordinator. He wrote his first Masters thesis as the pilot study for Kampala’s education service, Uganda, in 1999 whilst employed by Cornerstone Christian Centre to assist Hugh in his overseas and inter-church work. He then wrote his second Masters thesis on the political role of Christians in a modern Islamic state as a further aspect of this role. Trevor has learned much of the ministry (especially inter-church, cross-cultural and media work) alongside Hugh. He has travelled extensively with Hugh and has been asked to preach in Hugh’s stead on various occasions.
CiC International and other responsibilities
Trevor currently serves as Secretary to Council for Churches in Communities International, is employed part-time by Cornerstone to continue to assist Hugh widely, and serves on the Steering Group of the Churches Committee on Inter-faith Relations.
