June 2010 Report
programme-making, training-input, preparation and prayer
June 2010 for me was the month when Leading Edge sliced through into new realms, Fresh Focus spread its wings, the Salvation Army soldiered on in Scotland and the Global Day of Prayer brought London’s needs before the Lord.
Programme making
I have been broadcasting Leading Edge on Premier Christian Radio for over a year now. The format is very different from ‘Insight’, my television programme. In Leading Edge I interview a Christian leader on an aspect of ministry before presenting a sermon outline on a related topic. June 2010 was encouraging as it saw more responses to the programme than we have ever received before. It is great to know how much people are benefiting as it is broadcast throughout the UK and online. When I talk to other broadcasters, as I did at the Church and Media Conference in early June, I realise how privileged I am to have so much access into the media world.

Training input
June began as it ended, with me speaking to church leaders. At the beginning of the month I was with the leaders of Transform Newham. Newham is a borough in East London known for its ethnic diversity. Over the years its churches have made a name for themselves through their levels of co-operation and the enterprise they have shown in tackling community issues. It was a joy to encourage them in their ongoing ministry.
The end of the month, and the other end of the United Kingdom, saw Trevor and me in Edinburgh speaking to Salvation Army officers. This was an amazing few days as officers in their first five years of post-training college service gathered for their personal assessments. We had a whole day of input into a section of those gathered. It was a real privilege to share some of the joys and challenges of ministry and to have fellowship between the sessions with these faithful men and women of God who battle away in some tough ministry situations.

Preparation for Fresh Focus
This multi-cultural evangelistic initiative began in London last October with a large-scale, four-day event. Many of those who attended from around the United Kingdom have now decided to take the programme back to their towns and cities. As the Chair of Fresh Focus, and the person first asked to share the platform with Dr W F Kumuyi of Deeper Life Bible Church, I have become involved with the expansion of the programme into the North East of England. The middle of the month saw me in Newcastle again working on the preparations and ministering at King’s Castle Church, a multi-ethnic church that meets in the city.
On my return, we began picking up momentum for the London event with a Prayer Rally at the City Temple, at which I preached. We will follow this up in July with a day of training in evangelism.

Prayer at West Ham Football Stadium
The UK’s largest prayer event in June was that organised by the Global Day of Prayer, London, at West Ham Football Stadium. This is our third stadium prayer event and we are looking forward to a similar event at Wembley Stadium.
As co-chair of the event it was my privilege to bring the Mayor of London to the platform. His appreciation for the churches’ prayer support was warmly expressed. As we move forward to Wembley, we are seeking to galvanise the whole church in the UK to pray for all four of our nations.
